Descriptif

French still-life typical of 18th century, representing a basket of peonies with some flowers in buds.

Second part of 18th century old, epoch where the french female painter, Anne Vallayer, was mastering and reigning on the still life artistical gender.

We can observe the particular greyness background near of a François Boucher.

A choice very different from the Chardin’s brown backgrounds as from dutch schools or Monnoyer and Vallayer’s black backgrounds.

This grey-green background underlines subtly the quality of flowers colours so bright and too the elegance of this small size composition centered on a single subject perfectly mastered.

A distinguished still life in a charming old golden frame, a little used but fine.
