The Lady and the Gentleman

From the artist Constantin Guys this drawing representing an elegant lady and a gentleman under middle 19th century in France or London, city where the artist  and illustrator for french and british newspapers stayed during twenty years.

Baudelaire called Guys the « painter of modern life », then wrote an essay on the artist in which he praised his works under the pseudonym« Monsieur G ».
Collection marks at the bottom to the right.

This interesting drawing which is well representative of his style belonged to the famous photographer Nadar, a friend and collector of Constantin Guys.
